can someone please help i dont know where this thing is. multiple choice?
You work for a company that specializes in environmental cleanup. Your company has been approached by representatives of several Eastern European governments. They want to clean up the Danube River and are asking companies in the United States to help search for sites along the Danube where waste is being dumped.
Your boss calls you into a meeting to discuss strategy. She mentions that several other companies have also been approached. The Eastern Europeans have set a tight deadline for the initial proposals. Speed is essential.
Your first stop is your computer, where you call up a list of industrial plants operating near the Danube. You know that they are probably the worst offenders. You print out the list, thinking that you will need help obtaining water samples at these places. Luckily,
you spent a year studying in Vienna and made a close friend there who might be interested in earning a little extra money.
You reach for the phone. You dial Vienna. When someone answers, you say "Guten Tag. Peter Bosch, bitt." When Peter comes on the line, you switch to English and explain the project to him. Then you start asking favors. "What I really need, Peter, are samples of
Danube water taken at specific points. That way, I’ll know where the worst pollution is occurring." Peter is eager to help. He wants to do some of the sampling himself, and he says he has lots of friends who can help out. You make arrangements for him to get the
water tested and to fax you the results as they come in. Then you hang up.
While waiting for results, you place little flags on a map at all the places along the river where industrial plants are located. There are a lot of them, and they are scattered among many countries.
Several days later, you get a fax. Peter has sent you some results. You take a look and can see definite areas of heavy pollution. You look to see where the samples were taken. No locations are given. Instead, Peter has written the following:
I didn’t want your job to be too easy, so I’m going to make you figure out where these samples are from. We had our picnic near the capital of this new nation, which used to be the eastern part of Czechoslovakia.
Budapest, Hungary
Bratislava, Slovakia
Prague, Czech Republic
Bucharest, Romania

You didn’t need the whole story. Just the bit at the end: ‘…you have to figure out where this is – the capital of a new nation which used to be the eastern bit of Czechoslovakia.’ The two new nations from the old country Czechoslovakia are CZECH republic and SLOVAKIA. Find which is west and which is east; eastern bit is Slovakia. Therefore the capital you’re looking for is, as given, Bratislava, capital of Slovakia
