Does one have to have " 2 separate phone lines to receive faxes at home?"?
I have a Lexmark x63 and the manual says that you can set it at 3 different levels one of which is "answer/fax" which allows one to receive voicemail and faxes simutaneously but when I tested it by trying to send a fax from another location it did not go through and when I got home and dialed my number from my cell the display on the fax machine said, "press 9 on the telephone or start twice to receive faxes." What is the problem? I have it set at "answer/ fax but when I dialed the number from my cell it reverted to the other level which is "telephone mode" which has one to manually press 9 on the telephone or start twice on the fax machine which means I would have to be here to receive faxes. What is the problem and how can this be resolved? Thanks

I think the easiest way to fax (and I have switched to it as well) is with online faxing.
there is no need for extra phone lines, complicated installations, added cables and cords. All you need is your computer and internet!
http://faxfromyourcomputer.com/ provides you with the best online faxing services all which offer a FREE 30 day trial so you can give them a test run before signing up. Monthly plans start at as low as $8 bucks a month!
I don’t waste any more time on setting up fax machines, wasting money on paper and ink expenses, just $8 a month and I am set.
no u dont, i run my fax through lexmark, i have to switch it over to fax though, then my phone wont work, ppl will here a long beeeeep….to overcome this simply forward your phone num to ur mobile when ur fax is connected…. and all calls will go to that .if ur in australia to forward your home phone calls to your mobile is done by dialling……*21 then your mobile num then # ..to stop your call forward its # 21 #
yeah you do need 2 lines that way you don’t need to go through all the hassle of setting it up
