Ebay scam, Help!! not really sure what to do next?
FOr the past 3 months or so i have been looking for an unlocked iphone. I am pretty sure I have been scammed but I will know for sure in 3 or 4 days.
I found an add on craig list for an unlocked 16GB iPhone 3g 0, brand new in mint condition. I replied to the craigslist post, and jjoos20@yahoo.com replied to me and said he had just posted the iphone on ebay as a buy it know. I followed the link which brought me to ebay I signed in and clicked by it brought me to a page that said the seller was using ebay square trade I put in my email address the site then said I then got an email from ebay that said go to the nearest western Union and make a transfer to the the ebay agent Manole Antonia Florina located in Romania. Once you sent the money i was instructed to send a conformation to the email to the seller or to the fax number (206) 350-1632. I followed the directions in the email, sent the receipt of the money transfer to the guy. He said the iphone should arrive in 1-2 days. Later he sporadically sent me emails about making me second payment on the second iphone I bought. I had only bought one iphone i told him this over email about 4 times and he basically said the same thing over and over. Later I went back to the email that contained the link for the ebay post. I then got a window saying 404 error – not found. I then took the item number from the link searched it on ebay and no posting showed up.
What do you think of the situation?
Who should I report this scam too, and what will they be able to do about it?
Is there a chance that i will get my 0 back?
How can i get back at the guy who scammed me.

Anytime you get someone who has an item that seems too good to be true..and wants you to WIRE money to another country..sheesh Romania? You may as well have sent the $$ to Nigeria, as Romania is pretty high up there in the countries that have scams.
You probably cannot do anything. You can complain to Ebay, but I be the people who stole from you in Romania have already created another ad on CL and Ebay under a new IP and identity.
I would say chances of getting your $270 back are nil.
Okay, you finally figured out this was a scam.
You are out the money you sent and you will never see it again.
You can file a police report and complain to Craigslist, but they won’t be able to do anything.
The scammer you encountered used fake web pages to real you in. You failed to notice that both eBay and Craigslist tell you to NEVER use Western Union to pay for something. Ditto for Western Union. Once the money is collected from Western Union, it’s unretrievable.
Fortunately, for you, this lesson only cost you $270. I’ve talked to people who’ve lost $10,000.
PS, you can’t go to eBay and complain. The scammer’s "auction page" was a complete fake. He cloned it from a real auction, changed the auction number and set his trap for you. I’m surprised that you didn’t figure out that a 206 area code was Seattle Washington, not Romania….
Ebay doesn’t use western union, you got scammed honey, Items from Rome take longer than 1-2 days It takes a week or more to receive packages from my parents in England. Keep an eye on your bank account and make sure you haven’t had you identity taken. CraigList has allot of scammers on it I get them all the time, just ignore them any western union transfers are usually scams unless you know that person. I don’t know how you can get your money back you should report it to ebay or check out the sellers feedback. Sorry to hear this happened to you I hope you get this resolved.
Sorry to say this, but you got scammed. Try googling the email address or just the description of what happened.
Something similiar happened to me about a year ago when I was selling an ipod. Someone offered to buy it and offered a international money transfer. My point is that its never a good idea.
You can try following it up with ebay, but you honestly have a .02% of getting your money back. The best thing to do is the following
1. Pray for the soul of that person.
2. Learn your lesson.
-don’t do any dealings on craigslist that are not a local meet up
-if you do use ebay for anything, use pay pal
-check the internet address where ever you go. Make sure its authentic
-don’t follow links sent in emails, go through the main site and search by user name
