Fax Modem?
I’m looking for the best, though not bank busting, Fax Modem. I would like to know more about them, The net is just confusing. I know they allow faxes to be sent from the pc. that’s about it. Please be thorough. Please also refer to a few ones (links). I would like to have the internal ones. As said below, I have a 1520, where exactly on the laptop will the Fax Board be installed. Thanks a lot
My system is a Inspiron 1520, 32bit Vista Premium with 2GB RAM. Processor: Intel Core Duo T5250 @ 1.50GHz. NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

I’m not familiar with that laptop, but most of them have built-in dial-up modems. Are you sure you don’t have one already? The FAX ability is usually just a software addition to the existing hardware modem.
OK, assuming you don’t have a built-in modem. The ones for laptops are not internal cards, they’re PCMCIA cards that plug into the PCMCIA slot on the side of the laptop; some of it is inside, but some of it sticks out. I’ve owned several Zoom modems over the years and they have all performed faultlessly (and still do, for that matter, but I’ve moved on to broadband). So that’s what I recommend. Here’s a link to their product…
