Help! My computer wont boot!?
Ok so i bought a new psu and harddrive and put them in my computer. I installed Windows XP X64 ok and then went to install my adsl modem driver. after that the computer rebooted. once it came back on it said ‘windows has recovered from a serious error’ and then straight after that it reboots again.
Its rebooted for the third time now, now I cant get it to boot at all. The PSU does not stop spinning and there is no monitor input! Help what do i do? could it be faulty ram?
thanks

Absolutely. It could easily be the ram. It does cost $11, but I firmly believe it’s one of the best software pieces out there to check for RAM issues. (Link Below)
There could be other simple issues such as a faulty power supply. If you don’t have a PSU tester yourself, you can take it to your nearest electronics store and they should be able to test it.
If it’s not the power supply, try resetting BIOS to default and start with those settings.
(This is all assuming the PSU is properly plugged into the board, IE: 20 pin, and 4 pin connectors if necessary.)
This could also be a hard drive issue, bad sector, bad boot.ini, etc.
Without specs on most of your hardware, it would be hard to simplify any technical issues, since it could also be a motherboard issue. Hard to tell, but start with the smallest thing first, checking to make sure the PSU is properly connected, and go from there. Hope this helps out.
Check the ram as well as the power supply’s connection to the mobo. If that doesn’t help then make sure the connection from the ethernet card (if it’s pci) to the mobo is correct and that it’s not faulty. If all else fails, re-install the OS to ensure it’s not a software issue (although if you have info on the computer that’d be difficult, sorry)
Best of luck.
Just try checking if your hardware are properly inserted inside. Sometimes wrong placement of hardware could drive any computer user crazy.
