How can I connect my combined fax machine to the modem?
I have a combined printer, scanner, copier and fax machine but only one phone line. I have been told that I can run the fax line through the modem of the computer to send and receive faxes. Does anyone know who to do this, what cables/connections do I need and how does it work?
The machine is an Epsom and we are on Virgin broadband.
Thanks in advance.

You don’t need to connect to a modem. The fax machine has its own modem. Just connect your line to the fax and install the printer. That’s it. Nothing else is needed.
Hello..K here goes..I assume the connection from printer to computer is USB..if thats correct..then theres a phone jack on the back of printer..if you have a unused phone wire just plug it in there…if not u can use a splitter..BUT some equipment dont like splitters..so use at own risk. Also if you have a phone modem in the computer..u can jumper it outta there…hope this helps
May I kindly suggest you try online faxing. It is a lot easier, cheaper and doesn’t require any complicated set-up. All you need is a computer with internet and you are set! Plus, they give you a free local or toll free number along with many other features a fax machine can’t.
I recommend this because I made the switch last year and it has save me hundreds each month, I’ve included a source below that reviews the best online faxing services and you can also try any of them FREE for 30 days! hope this info helps
That’s all complicated, unnecessary and out-dated. The cheap and modern way to take care of faxing is to use an online faxing service. This is a very helpful read:
