How can I file a grievance against a collection agency?
Received a phone call at work, from a Detective stating that one of my creditors sent him a fax filing a complaint against me. He had the contact information for the collection agency, my reference number and the name of the person I should ask for. He said if he doesn’t hear otherwise from the collection agency stating that everything is resolved, he would have to seek further actions. First, the Detective never left his number or precient for me to call him, so I think this is a scare tactic. And are collection agencies authorized to contact police with my personal information? I have the message saved on my voicemail. If anyone can forward me to a site where I can download legal letters to send to the agency and stop the harrassment I would be grateful. Thanks.

You could have a good claim against the collections agency. I would get an attorney.
I am concerned about the phone call to your work from the police detective. Did you physically threaten a bill collector with bodily harm when they called you? If the police officer calling is a scam than the person who made the call is breaking the law. It is a federal offense to imitate a police officer. Did this police officer give his name?
Seriously, get an attorney you could have a good civil case and the attorney may be willing to sue on a contingency fee. Save all phone messages, record conversations with collectors (advise them they are being recorded), save all letters and any correspondence you send to them.

i would tell them that you are going to file harrasment charges on them and then call all the news channels in your area so everyone is aware of how much this place is harrasing citizens because you dont deserve to have that stuff happen just because they are a collection agency and you may owe a little debt dont forget to call the better business bureau and the mayor and so on just keep going up the chain
