How can I get rid of my modem sound?
I am using conexant modem for dial-up connection which windows xp can not detect it without a driver installed, but when connecting the modem makes a nonstop loud sound after the connection.The modem is detected as generic softk56 Data fax. Do you know how I can get rid of this sound?

go to control panel, open phone and modem options.
here u can set ur modem sound option, set the modem dial tone to no sound
