How can i set up my laptop to send and receive faxes using the internet?
I’m using Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Is there any free or affordable application that allows me to send and receive fax by using a wireless broadband connection alone. What are the limitations? Will i be able to send faxes like the regular faxing method?

Search Google for "internet-based fax service" and see several solutions – free and for-fee. IMHO a fee is required to get anything flexible and reliable.
Start by looking at http://www.efax.com/en/efax/twa/page/homePage?CMP=OTC-us but be aware that they push their [unneeded] software which is not a wise thing to put on a system as vulnerable as Vista.
The operating system you use is beside the point. So is the way you connect to the Internet. Think of it as an html-based email [or text messaging] service that happens to involve fax machines on the other end. Even connecting from the same machine isn’t required.
Your Internet fax account does the work. You just ‘send’ and check back to see if you received a fax. As far as those sending faxes, all they need is your fax phone number [provided by the service]. Get a number that’s local for most of your senders.
There is no valid technical reason that a local application should be needed – just use your browser [Firefox recommended] and viewing software. Same for the cell phone – just use its included browser – nothing more. If the service says to use THEIR software – look elsewhere – especially since Vista has malware vulnerability.
Good luck [especially with Vista].
