how to install a modem in linux fedora?
I just recently installed Fedora into my system. I was trying to install the modem through the network settings. I did install it but it is showing as a Generic Modem. The modem I have is from creative. Please at least give me a hint or a clue of what to do. Thanks ..

plz dont waste ur time on winmodems. external serial modems(even not usb) works fine.
far too many modems are winmod or windows modems- there is likely not a specific driver for that modem from creative that is fedora compatible- but for best likelyhood of an answer, check on fedoras forum- as soon as I can get a clean shot at a mirror I am going dual boot fedora.
If you want to connect a modem always try to connect a external modem .This way it is more easy to configure and start working.Than fiddiling with the winmodems.Try Smartlink modem drivers .I hope this drivers will work with creative modem.
winmodems are modems that are installed on PCI slots ofyour computer , they are also called internal modems. While the other kind is external which are connected via serial port.
Configuring serial modem is easy and straight forward but winmodem are very hard to configure.
Now to configure a serial modem just google around and u will get the answer
