I am having a problem sending a direct fax from my PC, i am trying to send an invoice to a client?
, I bring up the invoice, then click print. When it brings up printer options I click Hewlett Packard Fax and click send. it then brings up the window to put the fax number in and i complete that all fine.
When i walk to the fax to check that the fax is going, I can see the fax trying to dial the recipients number. However then I get a message on my pc saying "no dial tone". There is a dial tone because when i walk to the fax machine and manually send a fax it works fine.
I am running XP, can anybody help with this problem?
Cheers

I’m sorry I can’t tell you why your PC isn’t "hearing" the dial tone, but I can sympathize with needing to get invoices to clients. As a workaround, can you send the invoice as a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) attachment to an email instead?
I use PDF exclusively now; haven’t sent a fax in at least 3 years.
CutePDF is a Windows XP program that installs itself as a "printer", which you select as you would a printer from any application. It creates a PDF copy of your invoice, which recipients can view on their computers (most have PDF viewers standard these days; otherwise they can download a viewer at adobe.com).
The basic version is free.
