If I buy a computer without a 56K Fax modem or Wireless Card, can I still connect to the Internet?
I have DSL.
I have a DSL modem and router, but do I need an internal modem or wireless card in the computer to connect to the Internet? Or will there still be a place to plug in the Ethernet cable into the computer?

yes
you can if you buy P4, system so most of them are having LAN Cards OR you can get a LAN card for $2.5 USD anywhere for it
No Need for Fax Modem OR Wireless Card
yes.
you could buy a usb wireless adapter / modem
to connect to internet you need to have a modem.
if you don’t have a modem then also you can connect to internet using your mobile phones or other communication device which have a modem.
for using broadband you need to have a modem provided by your internet service provider. your 56k fax modem will not work in this case.
so don’t worry you have many ways to go to internet.
Good ay mate, depends on what sort of internet you are planing to use.
If you are going to use dial up you will need modem but of course it is not a problem if your computer doesn’t have it you can use an external modem or buy an internal version and install it easily.
if you are planning to get broadband ,most of the new computers come with Ethernet Adapter card but again if your computer doesn’t have that either you can buy it or a few bus and install it.
If you are going to use wireless internet again you can just install a wireless network card inside or get the USB version. If you want to use wireless i recommend to go for PCI card not USB
Good Luck
The short answer is yes. Most off the shelf PCs now days have an ethernet connection either built onto the motherboard or as a separate card. This is true of desktops as well as laptops. Since you are talking DSL, this should be sufficient for your needs. Desktops "generally are hard wired using an ethernet cable although some people do use wireless. (Me for instance) A cable run from my DSL router was just too difficult for this particular PC. An ethernet port LOOKS like a modem port but it is a fraction of an inch wide. It has eight contacts where a 56k modem will have no more than 4 or 6. I have seen some that only have 2. (Which is all it uses anyway) A wireless card is unnecessary unless you plan to use a laptop in several different locations. Which is something else I do.
