Is it possible to send a document to a fax number using internet and not phone line?

If you’re at a place where you have internet connection but no phone line and no fax machine, can you send a document (e.g. WSword) or image to a fax number by somehow using your computer and internet?

There got to be a web site or something where you can upload your doc or image and input a fax number to send to, and it will send it there as a fax… anyone have seen it?
PS: if you know a free one that will be nice
