Sending faxes through my PC with my fax machine?
I have an epson 500 all in one printer and I can connect it via a line / phone cable to my Sony Vaio LT32E which also has the same jack needed.
What I would like to do is send a paper fax from the epson but through my internet connection on the Sony Vaio PC.
Is this at all possible and if so what kind of software do I need to get this set up.
Oh if there is any free software please let me know also.
Thanks much
G

Oh man its been a long time since I visited this topic. The most effective setups are achieved with Windows XP. Windows Vista however is also more than capable. Just make sure you have installed the modem drivers (that’s what is called, by the way). Once you are sure, install the Windows Fax component. If you go to Printers and Faxes the choice will often be there. If its not, run appwiz.cpl, and then look for installed features or components. Then make sure Faxing is checked somewhere. You also need your Windows CD or a valid i386 directory. Install.
Now back to printers and faxes. Just add a fax and follow the instructions. Its really simpler than it sounds. Good luck.
