Sharing files among 2 PCs via a wireless modem?
Hello,
I have 2 PC’s in my home network. Both have windows XP installed.
I have an adsl modem which is connected to a D Link DI-624 Wireless Router.
One of my PCs ( say PC 1) is wired directly to the the router ( An
ethernet wire from from PC1 goes to the Dlink router)
The other PC (say PC 2) is connected wirelessly to the router.
The problem is that I want to share files from PC 1 to PC 2. I cant do
it with the current setup.
Additional Information: PC 1 has IP address: 192.168.0.5
PC 2 has IP address: 192.168.0.100
The router has IP address: 192.168.0.1
So the gateway for both PC1 and PC2 is 192.168.0.1.
PC2 can ping PC1 but PC1 cannot ping PC2.
There is no firewall installed in either of the PCS.
How do I connect my 2 pcs so that they can share files with each other.
Thanks in advance,
Seeker
Both the PCs are in the same workgroup and both have File and Print services enabled.

For file/printer sharing, both PC’s have to be in the same Workgroup and have File and Printer Sharing enabled.
unless PC1 pings PC2, you cannot have file sharing as you want to… do both PC’s have internet connections? i mean, can both browse the net? if both does, then i don’t see any problem why both can’t have file sharing capability. now, if PC1 can’t, check the wire connector… your problem may be this.
check if they are in the same workgroup! and if file sharing is enabled on both pc! is so try to share one of the folders in 1 on the pc then try to acess that folder using the other pc!
