I have a wireless router/adsl modem set up with broadband on my home Dell PC.
I have a Toshiba laptop that is wireless enabled that I would like to use with this wireless broadband on my PC.
How is gods name do I do this????
I installed the disc that came with the modem onto my laptop and followed the wizard to creat a new wireless connection via the network places in my computer but nothing is happening!
Please can someone give me a numpties guide on how to do this.

i’ve had my new apartment, but the previous owner is still being charged for his Bell high speed internet (i’ve been told that by a Bell technician)… so basically i cant install any new connection before the previous owner stops his connection at my place!! so i thought i can simply use his connection…

can i buy any ADSL modem, plug it in and enjoy internet??

PS: i dont have any username or password…
1- i have ordered an high speed connection… the technician who came to install the line found out that there’s already a connection and line installed, for the previous owner, who is still paying… so he cannot touch it…
2- i dont think it’s illegal to use that guy’s connection which is in my place!! it’s more like a kind of gift he left me! if not, that would be violating my privacy!!!

how i can install or find manual for Ecom adsl modem

I can’t set my ADSL modem by LAN conection becuse there is not tcp/ip v4 protocol in winXP sp3,and modem dosen’t support tcp/ip v6.

I know it sounds dumb but i just installed my D-link 524 wireless modem. Ok let me try to explain this I installed and the internet works obviously but what I want to do is try and place the modem in the middle of the house so I get a better reception but im confused at how to do this without losing connection with the adsl modem.
This is how its connected. The adsl modem is connected to the internet and it has a ethernet cable going to the d-link. My dlink has a ethernet cable going to my computer which i think is dead because it doesnt seem to be picked up although i could be wrong.
If i unhook both ethernet cables and have the wrouter wireless in the middle of the house does it connect with my other modem or how does it connect wireless its very confusing to me im only 15.
Im trying to connect my desktop which has wireless lan, my sony ps3, and my mums laptop. Please explain how I can transmit the signal wireless without ethernet cables if its possible?

will installing an internal voice / fax modem lead to clash between external and internal modem as my access to inernet is through an external ADSL modem?

Wht i have got is an ADSL connection with USB ADSL modem with no ethernet port , a LAN card installed as well on my desktop Machine and a crosswire ethernet cable, i have tried the method of assingnig IP’s ( 192.168.0.1 n 192.168.0.2 method ) but sometime my laptop get connected to interenet and some time it dont no matter how many times i try to diagnose it :S !!! i have an ADSL modem which came from my broadband service provider and i just bought a wireless router today, when i tried to hook it up it says that my ip type is static but in fact i have a dynamic ip address. my service provider wouldn’t provide any help because they said that it is not within their protocol to help install third party routers (its because they sell one) but they said it is possible and its up to me to hire technicians…

the telephone looking wire is connected to the adsl router/modem, then the ethernet cable that came out of the adsl router/modem is connected to the WAN switch of my wireless router then i have another ethernet cable connected from my pc to the wireless router… i can access internet that way, when i try to connect via wireless i connect by it says LOCAL ONLY i can also only configure my wireless router once, because when i enter the address which is 192.168.1.1 it goes to the ADSL modem router page instead to the config page of my wireless router.

I have 2 PC’s in my home network. Both have windows XP installed.
I have an adsl modem which is connected to a D Link DI-624 Wireless Router.
One of my PCs ( say PC 1) is wired directly to the the router ( An
ethernet wire from from PC1 goes to the Dlink router)
The other PC (say PC 2) is connected wirelessly to the router.

The problem is that I want to share files from PC 1 to PC 2. I cant do
it with the current setup.

Additional Information: PC 1 has IP address: 192.168.0.5
PC 2 has IP address: 192.168.0.100
The router has IP address: 192.168.0.1
So the gateway for both PC1 and PC2 is 192.168.0.1.

PC2 can ping PC1 but PC1 cannot ping PC2.
There is no firewall installed in either of the PCS.

How do I connect my 2 pcs so that they can share files with each other.

Both the PCs are in the same workgroup and both have File and Print services enabled.

I have an ADSL modem X7005Q II but missing its driver for Win XP , can anybody let me know where I can download its driver or if there is any other way to Install it without driver or any substitute driver for it. Thanks

Hi. I have a problem with ma ADSL Modem.
Since I had problem with wireless key, I decided to install a modem.
It’s an old USB modem that my father gave to me. Attached the USB cable, internet cable to the filtre etc… I installed the drivers (as manual says). I setted up everything but… it wont work! Why? Maybe the problem is that the modem is ADSL and the service ADSL2? May be the cable? May be the filtre? The filtre is very old and it was full of dust. What should I do? I’m getting mad… with wi-fi my connection always times out so I need to use a modem… what’s the problem???
PS: Sorry for my bad English, I’m Italian. But Italian Yahoo! Answers doesn’t help me.

my current modem is a ADSL modem. i just got a free modem after doing a recontract of my internet service provider (ISP), which is 1500kbps.

the modem is a SpeedTouch, 516(i) v6 / 536(i) v6, Multi-User ADSL2+ Gateway, modem.

i heard that ADSL2/ADSL2+ modems are good. but when i read the instruction book, it says there i require an Ethernet Network card installed. i checked my PCI expansion slots, it is pretty empty except for the graphics card -__-…

so i presume i do not have one. furthermore, i do not see the slot for one of the wires (i think it is for the Ethernet Network Card), which looks abit bigger than the normal telephone plug.

my question, is it really important for ADSL2+ modems to require the Ethernet Network card? how does the whole system work with the modem and the card? what Ethernet Network card should i look out for, or doesnt matter?

where in Singapore can i get a reliable (not so expensive) one? and for much?

oh, yea, i forgot to tell you. im using a 1500kbps Broadband plan from Singnet. not bragging, many people have faster speeds =(
yeah, im using an ADSL modem, via USB connection. no other power source required.

the new ADSL2+ modem requires both USB connection and this ethernet wire thing. plus, requires another AC power source, though provided the adaptor =(

I have just replaced my adsl modem with a brand new prolink Hurricane 9200 series adsl2+ modem router. The modem works fine on standalone but the problem happens when i connect the 3com officeconnect wireless dsl gateway. Can someone show me how to setup the 2.

I am working overseas and the housing that is provided has set up an ADSL service, however; the house has a PBX on the phone line (so each room is an extension). If I put the the ADSL modem in a room (i.e. on an extension), will I be able to connect to the internet?
