"i just signed up for a service to get faxes through my computer, but i dont see the faxes coming through, i called the fax service and they tell me sometimes they have problems with yahoo/hotmail !!! crazy! so they told me to contact yahoo to see if anything can be done….any suggestions?"

I never switched over to Vista for several reasons but one of the major reason was because I could never receive faxes for free or send for free with Vista. You had to pay for an extra software program to do that. Can you fax with Windows 7 for free?

My fax machine is hooked up to the same line as my phone… ie. they share a phone line. Is there a way to set my fax machine to identify and receive faxes without me being present to answer the phone? I have my voicemail set up on this line too, so I don’t want the fax machine to answer every call… just the faxes. Is there a way to make this happen or am I boned? Thanks.

Is there a free program I can get, to receive and send faxes directly from my computer, by connecting it to a phone line?

I have windows vista home premium.

Currently I use eFaxPlus which is extremely convenient to receive and send faxes, particularly since most of this is electronic. I don’t fax physical/hard copies and need these faxes received in soft copy.

What is the best alternative to this? This service has now increased from 12.95 a month to 16.95 a month – I send about 2 faxes a month (again, soft copy) and receive about 20 (1-2 page) faxes a month which I leave in soft copy or forward to colleages.

Any recommendations? I like the web interface and being able to access these online if necessary, but it’s not required.

I send faxes via fax tools on my computer – do not have an independent fax machine. I do not know how to receive faxes. The software says to make sure fax tools is up (it is) and is set to receive mode (it is) but when my phone rings, it goes to my answering machine (those little irritating beeps) and then hangs up) and no fax is received. I think I know the problem but not sure. I do have a HP56 modem plugged in which I use to send faxes but my Internet server is FIOS. Maybe to receive I have to change the setup of the software to reflect Fios as the modem and not my HP56 modem. If so, I do not know how to do that. Any suggestions. Thanks.
Someone out there must know something about computer fax software. Please help!

And no commercials such as the first answer. That does not help me.

Hey Guys, does anyone know how to send faxes online for free within USA and Canada?

I am looking for a simple program that will convert doc scans and fax them to local phone numbers… being able to receive faxes would be a plus.

Yes…. I have done the "G" search and all I find are fax services and "SHAREWARE" (which is really just PAYWARE) but you get a few days to pay for it.

I don’t want to use the services. Don’t like the idea of sending my DOCS to a 3rd party.

Thanks in advance.

If not is there any free service that does do faxes via the internet or email?

I own a business and have a fax line that has been the same for years and I do not want to change it since everyone knows the number. However, I am not always in the office to receive important faxes.

Is it possible, or is there a program/device, that will receive the faxes via the phone line – using the existing number – and then convert them to digital content and send them to an email address automatically?

They’re filing any type of complaint possible to our boss about me. They’re hiding my faxes. Checking my MySpace to see if I’ve been online today or not, etc.

How do I send them a message to let them know I know they don’t like me and would love to see me terminated?

Posters? Pictures? Memos? Any thoughts please :)

You can even suggest leaving a cockroach in their leftovers in the fridge.

Hello,
I have two different faxes that I would like to link to the same phone line. I have a different number with a special ring on my phone line for faxes. At the moment, with one machine, it’s working. But I am trying to add my second fax machine and it doesn’t seem to work anymore. The sending part works, it’s the receving part that is a problem.

Thanks for your help

I have a cable internet modem and a yahoo e-mail account and would like to send and receive faxes. Is there any FREE programs or websites that will allow me to do this?

I bought this brother printer thinking I could send faxes with it and now that I have the printer all setup I cant seem to find the place where the fax line plugs into :) infact the user guide dosent even mention the word fax in it. But online it says the printer can do fax also… Has anybody had the same problem? Or a possible solution to the problem? Please help ASAP :)

I’m in need of a basic program that will allow my computer to receive faxes sent by any typical fax machine. (I don’t really need the ability to send faxes.) And this need is going to be temporary (I’m collecting data for a short-term project) so I’m reluctant to invest big bucks in a computer program that’s designed for company offices. Is there a free download that will work? A friend of mine had an eFax Messenger download once but their service is no longer free. Can anyone recommend a freeware program, or at least an inexpensive one?
By the way, I use Windows XP on a broadband connection. I have no land line and no phone modum.

What and which is a good program where I can send and receive faxes via the internet and without a physical fax machine.

i have my fax cables and and home printer with a scanner but it doesn’t have the number that fax machines regularly have. how can i do to send faxes just using my computer and softwares? can i?

i have had problems getting that seeminly built in program with office that is called Microsoft Fax, ex: like when you are in a Word Document and go to the File drop down Menu it has a Send to Fax Recipent option and then looks like you can go thru the motions of sending a fax.

However all the help files i’ve read seem to be on a Modem basis, and no sending help information when you are using a Voip for your phone line (or a DSL / Cable) any suggestions?

Or does anyone know of a free / inexpensive fax program that enables you to directly send faxes from a document from your computer instead of having to print it and then fax it?

Part of my desire in doing this is to save on paper… Thanks !

p.s. Happy Friday Everyone :o )

I am inquiring about buying one of those All-in-one printers that scan, print, copy and fax. If I do purchase one, how would I set up the fax at home? Do i connect it to my regular phone line? Do I have to add another line to my house phone? Also, where do the charges for sent and recieved faxes go to? Or are there even any charges? Sorry for so many questions, I have no clue whatsoever and this is a really big purchase for me. Thank you for your time.

If I buy a regular all-in-one printer and hook it up via usb to my computer, can I then fax via the internet? I do not have a phone line that works anymore, as I use voip.
Also could I received faxes? and if so how would I figure out the number, or would I have to ask comcast for a second # ?

Thanks

I’m looking for a free, easy to use fax program that I can run on my computer that I don’t have to have a land phone line for. I want to eliminate our home phone since the only people that call on it are telemarketers!
I’ve looked at all 3 websites, thanks for the advice. One question about Callwave, can I send faxes too? I can’t seem to find that on the website…

Also, i need info that will be faxed to be located in the email attachment in tiff format. I have found that most email to fax services want the info to be faxed to be located in the body of the email. Please help.
The faxes need to be able to be automatically generated, meaning that we don’t have to go to the website of the fax service to send the fax. We will be using this service in conjunction with an online ordering system so that when a customer places an order on our website, a fax is automatically sent out to the merchant with the order details. Also, i need info that will be faxed to be located in the email attachment in tiff format. Hey,
I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a program which was able to convert faxes to pdf. Not only that but I still want my fax machine to print ou the faxes, as having any technological mishap happen would be disasterous.

Basically, I need a program or online website that can email me my faxes, but at the same time I still want them to print out.

Thanks,
Best answer will be chosen promptly!

I hooked up an external modem with fax capabilities, hooked it up to my phone line, and ran the set-up wizard through "windows fax and scan". However, I’m not sure if it will work. Is there any way to test if I can receive faxes correctly? Additionall, is it ok if I don’t have a printer hooked up, will the fax just be received in "windows fax and scan" similiar to how e-mails are received? Thanks!

I am in college and therefore I have no fax machine. I need a website that files can be faxed to and heard that not only they exist, but some are free. Does anyone know of a website that I can get faxes faxed to and then I can look at them and print them out via .pdf or another type of file?
