i have an ADSL modem which came from my broadband service provider and i just bought a wireless router today, when i tried to hook it up it says that my ip type is static but in fact i have a dynamic ip address. my service provider wouldn’t provide any help because they said that it is not within their protocol to help install third party routers (its because they sell one) but they said it is possible and its up to me to hire technicians…

when i use my modem only without the wireless router
my bitcomet wont work
my limewire cant connect
i have internet

when i use the modem with the wireless router
it goes to the router’s config menu at first
when i cancel i connect to the internet
i dont have wireless connection, all wired

i dont have a wireless connection

do i need to have an adsl wireless router for my adsl modem? im a total noob at this pls give me any ideas or links to guides.
my modem is prolink hurricane 9200. i just found out that it is a modem/router
the adsl router/modem that my service provider gave me has no wireless capabilities

the telephone looking wire is connected to the adsl router/modem, then the ethernet cable that came out of the adsl router/modem is connected to the WAN switch of my wireless router then i have another ethernet cable connected from my pc to the wireless router… i can access internet that way, when i try to connect via wireless i connect by it says LOCAL ONLY i can also only configure my wireless router once, because when i enter the address which is 192.168.1.1 it goes to the ADSL modem router page instead to the config page of my wireless router.

Okay, I have one PC in my parents room, router set up and internet working fine.

I recently restored my Dell Dimension E521 to factory settings. And I now have no internet. I have the adapter which is a NETGEAR WG111v2 but no installation disc, if it ever came with one. I downloaded the Netgear software for it and that works but when I put adapter in 1) the adapter doesn’t light up 2) it starts asking me for an installation disc?

I need to know how I can

Get the adapter working and also how I can re-connect to my parents router?

Please help, I have been at this for hours and feel like I’m getting nowhere!

I have tried to go onto my parents pc, use a USB to download the zip file and then try to load onto mine, however the pc just will not let me. Is it because the adapter will not turn on? If so, how can I get it to turn on… am I seriously going to have to get a guy in to look at it..

I have just replaced my adsl modem with a brand new prolink Hurricane 9200 series adsl2+ modem router. The modem works fine on standalone but the problem happens when i connect the 3com officeconnect wireless dsl gateway. Can someone show me how to setup the 2.
