I’m looking to get a all in one printer with fax.
Q: I have a laptop, can the printer be set up to a laptop? Will I need special wires or anything?
Q: I don’t have a land line at home, I only use my cell. Can I make the fax work via my cell phone?
Q: wireless printers…exactly what is wireless? plz explain.
Q: I have wireless internet at home, can I fax wirelessly that way?

I can hardly find printers that function as fax machines that are affordable anymore, and a simple fax machine, even at the low end will cost well over 0. And I’m comparing to the use of an online fax service that will cost about per month.

So which makes more sense? Does anyone here use an online service just for regular home use? Is it worth it?

I am inquiring about buying one of those All-in-one printers that scan, print, copy and fax. If I do purchase one, how would I set up the fax at home? Do i connect it to my regular phone line? Do I have to add another line to my house phone? Also, where do the charges for sent and recieved faxes go to? Or are there even any charges? Sorry for so many questions, I have no clue whatsoever and this is a really big purchase for me. Thank you for your time.

Are the all-in-one fax/ printers/ scanners which use a pc modem to accept faxes any good? Are users of these happy with them?
The cheaper allinones are inkjet, do these still function ok? Or should I pay the extra money and get a laser printer all in one?

My computer will be online for more than 12 hours a day.Are the faxes that use a direct telephone line better? I need an answering machine as well. I want to send good quality faxes.

I have call canon, they send me to what they call is a dealer
after 2 calls there,they tell me they dont handle, they only handle printers and this is printer/fax. where do i go to get help setting up the internet fax, so i wont need this phone line? any help would be appreciated

in response 2 first answer- machine is a internet/fax canon 730i fax copier-
one needs to be able to place items to fax in machine and then email out to other computer or fax. there is actual setup in system for email addresses. However, i am having problems with this and canon will not help or advise, just wants me to find dealer, who also states they do not help.. to fax from my computer to another fax/computer yes i would need actual phone line which i am trying to avoid. Thanks any additional thoughts

I have VISTA Home Premium (64 bit) on my Toshiba Satellite Laptop. The laptop has a Toshiba Software modem and telephone jack. Fax is not one of the options on the list of printers.
