I am technologically ignorant. I am trying to set up a home office and give myself as much flexibility as possible. I’d ideally like to have as few wires in my office as possible. Also, I’m purchasing a new laptop computer. But I don’t know anything about WI-FI, Bluetooth, or internet access providers such as Sprint or Verizon. Can someone explain to me if I need all of them, or just one or two of them. Also, does WI-FI, Bluetooth etc eliminate the need for wires going from the fax machine to the computer to the printer and scanner etc? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Or if you know of a good "dummies" guide please let me know. Thanks
if they require you to write something like "responding to job on craigslist", can you write it at the top of the resume?
I have two pages to fax, cover sheet and one additional document. When it sends the fax, it says sending page 1 of 1. When I go to the faxes sent log and open that fax, it only shows the cover page. How do I make it send everything I insert?
No need for any more posts. jcalaz2003 has already answered this question and it worked. Thank you sooooooooooo very much. I was about to take this "all in one" back to the store. Thanks again. And you’ve definitely got 10 points coming from me.
Thanks Jcalaz2003. I thought about that. I was going to send you another message and ask you if I had to do that. Thanks. You should really play the lottery today. Perfect timing and mind reading. You might have a chance (smile). Thanks again. By the way. Your email hasn’t been confirmed. I would’ve sent this through there but couldn’t. Thanks again.

I manipulated a Microsoft Word template to include the following:
FAX (in large bold print – is this really necessary it is part of the template?)
Left side of table:
To: (their name)
Fax: (their fax number)
Re: (name of open position)
Pages: (don’t worry I counted the cover sheet)
Right side of table (so my name is across from the "To: name")
From: (Me)
Phone: (my phone)
Date: (the date, duh)
I deleted the comments part, do I need to include that? If so what do I write in there???
The Vista on this Viao was loaded with tons of crap to market tons of crap. Sony refused to supply XP drivers for this model but they totally have them. When I tried to use a similar model with the exact same hardware devices it would halt and tell me that I am tryiing to install on the wrong model. Finally I went to each manufacturer and got the right XP drivers, except the Conextant HDAUDIO Soft92 Data Fax Modem with Smart CP (on the Realtek audio card). I have found about 6 drivers that all looked promising, but none work. I read a post that said Windows Update would take care of it for me but no go. Tried Conexant and Sony Live chat but no go. Does anyone have a clue how to get this device to work ?
UPDATE: Yes, I’ve check most of the major "Device Driver Dowload" sites and found so many drivers that did not work that I finally gave up and returned the laptop back to my friend without a working modem. Sony support for this fairly new, and under warranty Laptop was not-existant for any operating system but their serialized version of MS Windows Vista Premium which was a piece of Ad filled pop-up nighmare. The were difficult and flatly refused to supply any drivers for XP at all. They kindly referred me to "the manufacturer of the operating system" for the associated drivers and informed me that they would no longer honor the Sony warranty for this new laptop because we installed an Operating
System that we like and is compatible with out current office. I did manage to find all of the other drivers by dismantling the laptop and reading the chip manufacturers name and chip number for each device. Not recommended for anyone ever. Beware the Sony marketing tactics…
Thanks-

There is a Smart Blonde, a Dumb Blonde, Santa Clause, and the Easter Bunny sitting at a table with ,000,000 in the middle, who gets the money ?
The Dumb Blonde because there is no such thing as a Smart Blonde, Santa Clause, or the Easter Bunny.
Q. Why did the Blonde climb the glass wall ?
A. To see whats on the other side.
Q. How do you get a twinkle in a blonde’s eye?
A. Shine a flashlight in her ear!
Q. Why is it harder to make a blonde snowman, compared to a brunette snowman?
A. You have to hollow out the head!
Q: What did the blonde say when she found out she was pregnant?
A: "Are you sure it’s mine?"
Q: What is the difference between a pregnant blonde and a lightbulb?
A: You can unscrew a lightbulb.
Q: What do blondes and beer bottles have in common?
A: They’re both empty from the neck up.
Q. How do you know that a blonde has sent you a fax?
A. There’s a stamp in the corner of the fax!
Q. Why won’t pharmacists hire blondes as secrataries?
A. They keep on breaking those bottles in the typewriter!
Q. How do you get a blonde to laugh on Saturday?
A. Tell her a joke on Tuesday!
Q. What did a blonde get on her SAT test?
A. Nail Polish
Q. What do you call a blonde who lives in Alaska?
A. A Frosted Flake.
Two dumb blondes were walking through the woods and they came to some tracks. The first dumb blond said "These look like deer tracks," and the other one said, "No, they look like moose tracks." They argued and argued for a while and they were still arguing when the train hit them.
Two dumb blondes were in a parking lot trying to unlock the door of their Mercedes with a coat hanger. They tried and tried to get the door open, but they couldn’t. The girl with the coat hanger stopped for a moment to catch her breath, and her friend said anxiously, "Hurry up! It’s starting to rain and the top is down."

Shane English School japan is not actually a company, it is a brand name that "Shane Corporation Japan" and it’s various subsidiaries operate their schools under. So, although your (English) contract may say that your employer is "Shane Corporation", this is not actually true, this is merely a tactic that the "Saxoncourt Group" uses to make it difficult for you (as an employee) to report your REAL employer to the authorities for breaking the law (because you need to know who your real employer is in order to report them).
A number of Shane English School & Saxoncourt around the globe have recently gone into receivership or been liquidated… But Mr Lipscombe owns his global empire via a company called "Saxoncourt Holdings Ltd" registered in the British Virgin Islands (where companies are not required to disclose the state of their finances on the public record), so it’s hard to say but the principal of Shane English School Japan recently threatened that the company was in danger of going bankrupt.
I recently left Shane after working for them in Japan for abour 15 months. I have to agree that they should be avoided at all costs. The vast majority of Shane teachers are deeply unhappy in their jobs, and at the time that I made my departure, teachers were leaving in their droves to work for other language schools. Morale is kept deliberately low by removing holidays at the last minute, unfair distribution of cover days teachers are required to work, and frequent impositions on teachers´ free time by requiring them to teach additional hours for very little, and sometimes no additional reward.
Accommodation is very, very small and poorly furnished and they charge roughly twice the market value for it, thereby making a profit from their teachers accommodation needs. Most other schools subsidise teacher accommodation.
Attitudes to their teachers vary. DOSs are never seen all you will get is a fax or told to read a guide book , but central management at Shane HQ seem to regard teachers as property rather than people. Shane provide virtually no professional support. As far as I am aware (and I did make enquiries) none of the monkey pea brain DOSs has more than a CELTA, which means that if you wanted to undertake a DELTA you would be in trouble, as there is most likely no one within the company who will be able to act as your mentor (a requirement for anyone wishing to undertake a DELTA by distance study).
And if you find yourself in any kind of trouble, you can expect absolutely no assistance from the company. Their only concern is that you turn up for work, regardless of what calamity may have befallen you. I certainly wouldn´t recommend Shane as a first teaching job. It really offers no potential for professional development and in the majority of cases seems to put people off the teaching profession. You work on your own and could be teaching German for all the school knows,Just about everyone leaves with a fairly bitter taste in their mouth, and I would suggest that any postings to the contrary are certainly written and posted by Shane management, or DOSs, under instructions from head office.
A bad company to work for. Very disappointing. They do not care about teaching English just have fun play games and keep students happy even if they are not learning ****, teach to the book not the student is what one dos told me, their books are 20 years old , poor and are full of errors but make the school money so who cares!
I have a HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP (COM3) to connect to a dial-up connection for my kids to use. My kids need to be able to use my computer, but I only want them to use the dial-up connection when I enter the password and monitor their use. I cannot get the connection to require a password.
When I set up the connection, I did not enter a username or password, just the phone #. But somehow it knows my computer on the network and logs on without any more info. Then I have tried deleting the number in the properties dialog so I have to reenter #.
I don’t have to fill in the password box-or even my username, it connects without putting anything in. I do not have the "Save this username and password" box checked.
In the properties window, I have checked the "prompt for name and password" option; under Security I have "Typical – Require secured password" and I have under Sharing, no options chosen to share anything.
Any ideas? Is this the SmartCard or network?

Ok…I have a few questions regarding how to construct my resume for USAjobs.gov… From what I have read online, the rules/expectations for public resumes and private resumes are very different. I know I will need to be more descriptive with my job descriptions but can I use first-person (ie "I") to do so? Also, I attended 3 community colleges prior to receiving a degree from a university, do I need to list all of these (I did not receive a degree from any of the CCs)? And what about High School?
And what about cover letters? Are they appropriate for jobs applied for through USAjobs where everything must be faxed and there is no "fax cover sheet" for such things? ~ (…if that question makes no sense to you, you have never applied through that site lol) ~ … It is my dream to work for NOAA, am I shooting myself in the foot to call the HR person and say that? … I know that seems like a no-brainer with the answer being "YES! DON’T DO IT!". But I have a degree and am willing to work for free to be given a chance! I don’t have all the experience they are looking for but I know I could learn. Plus, the position is at the gs-01 pay grade which is literally entry level. So again, should I call the HR person?!?!?!?!
My mom and my friend Fernando tell me that it is "el modem", which makes enough sense. But my textbook says another term for a moden is "el fax". I asked them about this, and they say this isn’t true. Is there any country where they call the modem "el fax" or is this just wrong? Also, there was a question in my book asking, "How do you send a fax?" And we were supposed to choose from a list of computer related electronics/devices, and she said the answer was "el fax/el modem." I mean, I’m pretty sure there is a way you can send a fax through your computer, but she’s not exactly computer smart (She’s running Windows 95 still) so it’s not like she would know that. What’s the deal?!
My book’s copyright is 2007, so it’s not outdated. (Although some of the terms are)
I’m asking if it’s true if people call it "el fax" in any country. I know a name for it is "el modem".
Please read the question before answering, seriously.
I am not talking about the word MODERN, I’m talking about MODEM.
I subscribed to eFax a few months ago and they seemed totally sketchy putting a hold on my account until I sent photocopies of my credit card via fax "for their records", so I cancelled. I dont have a phone line and dont want to pay for one but I DO need a fax…. anybody use a good online faxing company??
