I am technologically ignorant. I am trying to set up a home office and give myself as much flexibility as possible. I’d ideally like to have as few wires in my office as possible. Also, I’m purchasing a new laptop computer. But I don’t know anything about WI-FI, Bluetooth, or internet access providers such as Sprint or Verizon. Can someone explain to me if I need all of them, or just one or two of them. Also, does WI-FI, Bluetooth etc eliminate the need for wires going from the fax machine to the computer to the printer and scanner etc? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Or if you know of a good "dummies" guide please let me know. Thanks

I have Time Warner Cable/ Net/Phone but the phone doesn’t allow FAX signals to be sent through. I had to get a land line with Verizon but I have had many issues with interruptions, billing etc and want to get rid of it completely but I need a FAX for my buisness. Someone told me to look into FAX’s that are ran online. I have never heard of it before. You get an account setup with a FAX number and the FAX is sent to the site and you can print it off by logging in? How exactly does this work and where is a good site I can learn more about it?

Verizon supports faxing (have Unlimited internet accesses) from my computer. The problem is, all I can send is the cover letter, I don’t know how to attache any thing to it.

First, I live in a rural area and my only options for internet access is dialup or satellite. The cost of the satellite is prohibitive, not to mention the fact that I have heard it is not reliable. That leaves us with dialup. We have Verizon telephone service, and the fastest I am ever able to connect is 33.26, but usually it is 28. This is with a 56 k modem. Is there something I can do to increase my speed? I can not access YouTube because of the slow connection, and downloading even songs takes a ridiculous amount of time-forget anything more than a song.

My daughter is getting a laptop for Christmas. It is a gift from her grandfather, who gets all of the grandchildren a computer at a certain age range. I am picking it out, and have chosen one with WiFi. I know there are some places that offer free WiFi and some that charge, but is that all she will need to connect? There is also an option for a Wireless card with Bluetooth-I know what Bluetooth is, exactly how does that work on the wireless card?

Her father and I are going to get her a docking station for the laptop for her January birthday, and I am wondering how to network my all in one print/scan/copy/fax to her laptop, so that both computers can share the same equipment?

I think that is all for now…again, thank you very much for your time.

I have Verizon DSL and Phone service. My phone line plugs into my router (obviously) and the printer is USB from my pc. I have a dial tone using the phone for calls but not when trying to send or receive a fax. I have a Pixma MP150 3 in one printer and is compatible for scanning and printing fax’s. Is it in my phone line? It tries to send but always says there is an error and cannot complete the fax. I have called the Fax number on my phone and it is indeed a valid Fax number. I’m at a loss and Verizon "Help" had no resolution. Any Ideas out there?

It is a local number that keeps calling my cell phone, multiple times per day. When I pick up, all I hear is beeping, and when I hang up I recieve a text message from verizon saying I’ve recieved a fax from that number….a fax on a cellphone?!

I have searched the phone number in google to see if any other numbers pop up with it, and reverse searched with 411 but no luck. Any advice?

This has been going on for over a week, quite annoying!!

I don’t have a modem installed on my computer. Is there a way to do it over the internet, so when people send me a fax, it prints to a PDF file, etc. on my computer. I would also like to be able to send faxes to people directly from my computer. How do I set this up? I have Verizon phone service and DSL.

I bought a modem from walmart and i was wondering if i install that one are there two bills? i didnt tell verizon about it, and i got a new ip address for it? i dont use the other one though?

does this connect to the nintendo ds to and when i install this do i have to pay monthly fees and does it make my computer go fast to.
i am asking about monthly fees because it has to be installed and it says adsl meaning is it a verizon thing.

I have never set up fax on a PC. What do I need to receive fax on my laptop when I travel. Do I receive them on my email? And do I need a number, or do I use the number of my Access card? I have a Verizon BroadbandAccess PC Card and I know it has its own number like a cell phone. Help me get started.
