I was able to send and receive fax when I was using the dial up but now I can’t because I’m currently using DSL. I had followed instruction from Windows Fax capability and it requires to insert the Windows XP Professional CD-ROM. I don’t have it on hand because my Desktop was customized. Also, I have Lexmark 4300 Series All-in-One but it failed, no dial tone. I only have one phone line. BTW, I’m aware of eFax and other fax services online. What’s your best technical advice? I hooked up an external modem with fax capabilities, hooked it up to my phone line, and ran the set-up wizard through "windows fax and scan". However, I’m not sure if it will work. Is there any way to test if I can receive faxes correctly? Additionall, is it ok if I don’t have a printer hooked up, will the fax just be received in "windows fax and scan" similiar to how e-mails are received? Thanks!

Every time i try to send a fax from my computer using windows fax service it tells me that there is no answer. I have the Modem sound turned on and can hear the connection being made for about one second and then the fax monitor disconnects and says there was no answer. But i heard it answer, is there something wrong with my computer, is there a setting i can change that will make the fax work? Can Anyone help

I tried using PlusFAX and It doesn’t work with a high speed internet connection just like the Windows Fax services. Is there any other software that works in XP, Vista, or Ubuntu that can send a fax over a DSL internet connection?

i tried to use windows fax software. the problem is if other part calls to send a fax page i don’t get any notification (alert like normal fax machine rings) from computer software even program says it’s online. i press the "receive fax" button and they are sending after i call them informing i’m ready to receive. what i want is, somewhere i had seen a program that rings automatically if smbd wants to send fax. tnx

I don’t have a fax modem, so I can’t use windows fax, but I am looking for a free fax service that will allow me to send faxes through the internet. I would like it if when the person receives a fax from my company, they will see our fax number. Any one have any ideas?
