I tried to fax once from my computer but it wouldnt let me. I opened up the fax wizard but had problems. I have Windows XP. Someone told me I might not be able to since I have a high speed cable connection through Comcast… is this true? Are there any FREE programs out there? Thanks

I’m in need of a basic program that will allow my computer to receive faxes sent by any typical fax machine. (I don’t really need the ability to send faxes.) And this need is going to be temporary (I’m collecting data for a short-term project) so I’m reluctant to invest big bucks in a computer program that’s designed for company offices. Is there a free download that will work? A friend of mine had an eFax Messenger download once but their service is no longer free. Can anyone recommend a freeware program, or at least an inexpensive one?
By the way, I use Windows XP on a broadband connection. I have no land line and no phone modum.

I was able to send and receive fax when I was using the dial up but now I can’t because I’m currently using DSL. I had followed instruction from Windows Fax capability and it requires to insert the Windows XP Professional CD-ROM. I don’t have it on hand because my Desktop was customized. Also, I have Lexmark 4300 Series All-in-One but it failed, no dial tone. I only have one phone line. BTW, I’m aware of eFax and other fax services online. What’s your best technical advice? Many thanks in advance.

I have Windows Vista on my new HP desktop PC and it didn’t come with the Fax Console like Windows XP. Are there any free programs that I can download that operate similarly to the XP Fax Console?

Back on windows xp (the good old days) you could choose from temple on word for resumes and fax cover sheets all that good stuff. I can’t seem to find that on vista. Did they take it off or is it hidden like everything else?I HATE VISTA!!!!?

I have windows XP. I have a canon MP160 printer/scanner. I use cable internet. I would like to scan things in from the printer/scanner and fax it. I then would like to be able to receive faxes and have it print using the printer part of the printer/scanner.

How can I set this up? Is there any good FREE software that I can use to do this?

After installing DSL, I can’t seem to send any faxes from my computer. When it dials, the error message shows: "No dial tone. The phone line is in use or not connected."

My phone line works fine, and I can manually dial out with no problem with DSL installed. I use Windows Xp Home Ed., 736 MB RAM,service pk 2, MSIE 7.0, Zonealarm firewall, Comodo antivirus program, etc. What do I need to do?

Hi,

I have two questions. I’m running Windows XP. Can you please tell how to create a fax cover page?

Can you also please tell me the website for downloading samples of fax cover pages?

I am having Telephone line, pc with windows xp, Scanner and Printer connected to usb ports. Can i able to send / receive fax messages using facilities? if not what’s more hardware / software required to use fax service from my pc.

when I used Windows XP, I was able to send a fax directly from the print options. There was even this really helpful fax option that made it really simple to send documents by fax directly from the laptop. Why can’t I do this from Windows Vista? What SHOULD I do?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium and XP Home in two partitions of my hard disk. I use this modem ‘ZTE ZXDSL 852′

for my ADSL connection. And I found out that the modem is not compatible with windows Vista (luckily I have XP too)

because, when I install the modem driver and plug it into one of my USB ports while using Vista, a blue screen

appears with a huge message on it which I don’t understand a bit. But, at the bottom of the screen, it says ‘Memory

Dumping and Restarting 3…2…1′ RESTARTS!

But with Windows XP Home, it work with no error.

Can someone help me with this issue? Or find me a link to download a driver of the modem made for Vista? Nothing’s

wrong with the hardware coz it works with XP very well with out a single error like I told you!

Please HELP!

Ok so i bought a new psu and harddrive and put them in my computer. I installed Windows XP X64 ok and then went to install my adsl modem driver. after that the computer rebooted. once it came back on it said ‘windows has recovered from a serious error’ and then straight after that it reboots again.
Its rebooted for the third time now, now I cant get it to boot at all. The PSU does not stop spinning and there is no monitor input! Help what do i do? could it be faulty ram?

thanks

I dont want another telephone line i just want to send and recieve faxes from through my Dsl internet. I noctice Fax in the communcation link but didn’t know how to use it. I got windows XP home edition.

I have a windows XP and Microsoft tools, but the other person only have a fax machine. How could I send a document to him to his fax machine? please, help.

Ever since I attempted to install a new graphics card, my computer has been sick. It would blue screen any time I tried to do anything involving video or media play with the modem on. The card didn’t work out, so I un-installed it and put my old one back in. The problems continued, to the point the modem was no longer recognized as being installed. So at this point I changed to a new modem. It is a nexxtech 56k pci internal data fax modem, V.92. I have tried updating the drivers, but the only ones I can find are from 2004.

This is killing me here, as I can’t do much of consequence online. No streaming video, like youtube, no music while i’m online. It even blue screened when I tried to put on duke nukem while the modem was online.

Last week, It decided that all it needed to blue screen was for the internet to run. I stopped having to open music or video to set it off. It just seems to go for the hell of it now…

The thing is, when the modem isn’t connected to the internet, the errors do not occur.

What should I do about this? My computer is pretty well crippled from this BS.
To clarify, My pc is a Dell dimension 4600, running windows xp with sp 2. I have avast and ad-aware, and scan frequently. I did not expect to be told it was probably a virus. I scarcely ever blue screened before trying to change cards. Why would that set it off?

I have even begun to consider a short in the motherboard.

A reformat is nearly out of the question. I have lost much of the backup software for the comp.
So, I just installed Zone Alarm, and it hasn’t found anything out of the ordinary trying to connect to the internet. I was really hoping that would work.

Okay, Windows XP, Epson Stylus Printer/Scanner/Copier with Arcsoft software. I’ve tried going to Microsoft to look up how to do this and it doesn’t help because it says that I need to hook computer into phone jack. The problem with that is that I don’t have traditional phone service, my phone goes through the cable/internet. It’s not even hooked into the phone jack in the wall. Can anyone help?

I have a broadband connection for my Laptap ( windows XP home was installed in this). It is using AZTECH ADSL Ethernet modem ((DSL 600E) to connect to internet. I have another PC which was installed with windows server. I want to establish/share internet connection in between these two simultaneously. How can I do? what setups needs to be done in between these two? Pls let me know all the inventory which needs to be bought.

I purchased a MFP laser printer (Samsung SCX-4521F). It is attached to PC#1 via USB on a WIndows XP system. The manufacturer software installed a printer driver, a fax driver (just another printer driver), and scanner driver.

The PC#1 is able to print, fax, and scan to the MFP just fine, and the special installed software automatically opens to assist with the submission (ie. Samsung fax software auto opens to get additional details).

For PC#2 connected on the home network via a standard router, I figured i had to share PC#1′s printer, fax, and scanner to get access to the MFP. From PC#2 i added the network printers (MFP Printer and Fax from PC#1). Unfortunately i couldnt locate the scanner driver in the same way.

The good news is PC#2 can print just fine but faxing and scanning dont work. I receive a Fax or Scanner cant be found error. I went ahead and installed the manuf. software on PC#1 but no luck.

Any ideas on getting faxing and printing to work on PC#2 over network?

Can I fax something using my computer and Printer/Scanner/Copier? I imagine that I can, but how?
Okay, so I have a brand new Sony VAIO laptop with Windows XP home edition and my printer/scanner/copier came with Arcsoft plus I have Microsoft Works of course, would any of these programs do this? Otherwise, what might the program be called on my computer?

I installed the fax component on my Windows XP, and it keeps saying there is no dial tone, but I have cable internet service. Do I need to connect my phone cord to my computer and send the faxes through the phone line or can a fax be sent through the cable internet connnection?

I have a new Acer Aspire T180 with Windows Vista Home Basic. I used to be able to send and receive faxes with my old eMachines computer that had Windows XP. Does Vista have fax capability like XP? Do I have to install a Data/Fax Modem? I also have DSL. How can I, if at all possible, enable this new computer to send and receive faxes without having to go out and buy new peripherals?

I am using conexant modem for dial-up connection which windows xp can not detect it without a driver installed, but when connecting the modem makes a nonstop loud sound after the connection. The modem is detected as generic softk56 Data fax. Do you know how I can get rid of this sound?
Thanks

My husband routinely sends faxes using the Microsoft fax program. The other day he decided to use one of the cover pages for the first time. Now everytime we fax something that cover page is automatically selected. How do we turn this feature off? We are using Windows XP. Thanks!!
