I have a wireless router/adsl modem set up with broadband on my home Dell PC.
I have a Toshiba laptop that is wireless enabled that I would like to use with this wireless broadband on my PC.
How is gods name do I do this????
I installed the disc that came with the modem onto my laptop and followed the wizard to creat a new wireless connection via the network places in my computer but nothing is happening!
Please can someone give me a numpties guide on how to do this.
Thank you, Lou.
Thankyou for the answer but are you advising me to do this on my lap top or on the pc which has the wireless broadband at the moment?
Sorry, did say I needed a numptys guide!
I have DSL and a SmartChoice DSL 500. Im running XP on a laptop. I have internet access. However, I can’t access the modems configuration utility at 192.168.1.1?
The router is reset to factory settings. Why the hell can’t I access the utility? What do I do? I’m trying to install a wireless router behind it, but it’s dead when I install it. I imagine I need to do something in the config.
Any help is appreciated. If you need more info just post what and I’ll add it really quick. Thanks!
Hello,
I have 2 PC’s in my home network. Both have windows XP installed.
I have an adsl modem which is connected to a D Link DI-624 Wireless Router.
One of my PCs ( say PC 1) is wired directly to the the router ( An
ethernet wire from from PC1 goes to the Dlink router)
The other PC (say PC 2) is connected wirelessly to the router.
The problem is that I want to share files from PC 1 to PC 2. I cant do
it with the current setup.
Additional Information: PC 1 has IP address: 192.168.0.5
PC 2 has IP address: 192.168.0.100
The router has IP address: 192.168.0.1
So the gateway for both PC1 and PC2 is 192.168.0.1.
PC2 can ping PC1 but PC1 cannot ping PC2.
There is no firewall installed in either of the PCS.
How do I connect my 2 pcs so that they can share files with each other.
Thanks in advance,
Seeker
Both the PCs are in the same workgroup and both have File and Print services enabled.
I have a cable modem in my office and would like to install cable modem in my basement. I have purchased a second cable modem. Can I connect the second modem in the basement and attach it to existing cable outlet in the basement and receive internet service? Or does the cable company have to setup in order for me to receive service in the basement? Does this mean I will receive an additional charge for this service? It seems that if I am already paying for the service, I should be able to receive service in basement with additional modem. I have tried using wireless router but service is not received in basement.
