what is a fax on your pc used for?

   there is a complete description in your computer’s help documentation, which you can find under the start button.

   I’m assuming that your PC has Windows XP on there. With a phone line attached to the computer. Your computer can inheriantly be used as a regular fax machine. Go into your control panel. Click on Printers. You should see that some kind of fax is selected. Right click on your printer and goto set as default. This should fix the problem.

   i have yet to use it-dell printer w/fax. win xp, dell dimension 3000.

   fax is like an ancient way to email youd send a page to someone and that page would be printed at the fax machine that who ever you sent it to its kind of obsolete

   if you have a modem you have a fax.. or if you have a xp system operative.. come with fax integrate… if in that case if you are in home and you need to send a fax anywhere.. without need to go out to find one… if you trying to print.. and you change print to fax… the pc send a fax…. and no print.. the computer ask you before do anything.. you only need to change the print back… and the computer print… to find more information go to start… you can go to control panel or printer and faxes… and you find the fax.. and the printer….
