where can I get prenatal care without insurance?
i applied for medicaid, and checked on my case information every day for the original 30 day waiting period. when i hadn’t heard anything on my case, i called and spoke to a representative who told me i would need to provide certain information – proof of pregnancy signed by a doctor or nurse, my ID, and birth certificate before 15 days was up. i then received a letter in the mail stating that i needed to send in these documents in 10 days… i tried calling the worker multiple times to ask about getting an extension on the time allowed, but she never returned my phone calls. i faxed a letter; it was ignored. then i checked my case information online, and it said i was denied.
what can i do? i’m stressing out; i already waited 30 days + 15 to get this far only to be denied and ignored. now i am into my 4th month of pregnancy and haven’t yet had any prenatal care; i’m scared and stressed out to the max. what should i do? i can’t wait any longer and don’t know where to go.

Plan parent hood., They do other stuff besides abortion and the health department should know of a place to send you if they don’t do it themselves
Go to a planned parenthood or pregnancy resource center in your area. They have free pregnancy tests, and some offer prenatal care at free/low cost. Don’t let the lack of money prevent you from seeking good prenatal care for your baby.
Ok – try applying for medicaid again keep on it. sometimes it takes awhile…if you need prenatal care and cant really afford it try planned parenthood…they give free pregnancy tests and at least that will give medicaide the proof of pregnancy they need to accept your case…plus they can recommend lots of clinics and doctors who offer low cost medical care….
planned parent hood every state has one! or check on ur local clinics or health department usually its free!!
Do you have a Health Department or a community care clinic? Try medicaid again. If you are pregnant and have no Ins. they cant turn you down.
i am so sorry to hear about your situation…Unfortunately this happens to alot of soon to be mothers…you need to gather all that info as soon as possible and walk in there with the documents, explain to them what the situation is and they will reopen your case immediately…because of the fact that youve been pregnant for four months without prenatal care,,,this would be called emergency insurance…dont worry,,,you dont need to do anymore calling or faxing though, sounds like you need to WALK IN and declare help…IM SORRY and take care
I went through something like that myself! you can go to a dr of your choice Now! Aslong as you have applied. and they will back date any care you recieve now to the date you applied. so go to the Dr. if you need to !!!!
i had the same problem with medicaid….. after all that they refused saying i havent lived in USA long enough……
but there is CHIP…… u can check for that at ur local county health department…… u need to provide a few documents for them as well…… but they r better than the medicaid ppl. n CHIP is just like medicaid…….. covers everything……
Do you live in CA? I got pregnant and I don’t have any insurance so my cousin took me to a county clinic. There are free clinics you just have to look for them or try a planned parenthood clinic, maybe they can check you out and assist you with midicaid.
Find the number for the health department or social welfare board in your county. They will tell you what doctor you can see. If you’ve been taking care of yourself up til now (eating right, not taking unneeded meds, taking a vitamin etc) then there’s not much more a doctor would have done for you before your 5th month. Don’t stress about that.
Why were you unable to get all the information together for medicaid? I had it for my second child thanks to my husband leaving me high and dry…really dry. I called before going to the office so I would know what papers to take, and they did a pregnancy test first thing when I got there. My coverage started immediately and even backed up to my last doctor visit. Maybe every state is different, but there was no 30 day waiting period. Again, why couldn’t you provide the basic info they asked for?
Medicaid? is this the state insurance through d.h.s.? if that didn’t work out for you i highly recommend planned parenthood. i hope they have them wherever you are. there should be resources in your area for this kind of situation….have you signed up for w.i.c yet? they could help i’m sure at least with some kind of referrals. you obviously have access to the internet so i suggest googling pregnancy resources+whatever town your in

That’s really hard. You should probably keep trying with the medicare. In the meantime you might want to see if there are any midwives in your area. They can check you out and are often much much cheaper than regular doctors if you’re paying for it yourself. You’ll want to check that they have the proper certification for your area, but most are very qualified to help you and can help you get specialist help if there are any problems.
Good luck! If you haven’t had any problems so far, your baby is probably fine.

planned parenthood offers really good prenatal care for anyone at really low prices, i think maybe $30 a visit or something that cheap. Look for their website online for your local number.
Don’t freak out. I was 6 months before I saw a doctor (no insurance). Contact Planned Parenthood. They can hook you up with free/low cost prenatal care until you get this matter cleared up and in case you are denied. They also can do a blood test immediately to confirm pregnancy so you can get your application through.
Another option is to call your Health Dept. They provide many free services and referrals. I’m pretty sure a pregnancy test is one of them.
Choose your doctor now and make an appointment. They will backdate your medical once you get accepted.
