Which is better: Fax a resume, send a resume by e-mail, or both?
Job listings on CareerBuilder.com often have the option of faxing your resume, or attaching it to an online link. Which offers me a better opportunity to have it reviewed by a human (rather than scanned by a computer)? Do I dare attach it and fax it?

Either way it will be scanned by HR. However, you are better off emailing it. You don’t know if the fax comes in paper, or goes into a computer system. I personally don’t accept resumes from professionals via fax as many of the managers like me to email information, I want it to be as neat as possible.
Don’t do both, that is annoying to the person receiving the information, plus if they are a large company it just adds to the tracking they already have to do, which is usually quite in depth.
Make sure your resume is saved as your First and Last Name then Resume, example: "John Smith Resume". If you save it as just resume, it may get overwritten in the database system.
I say Fax.
Just do one. Don’t do both or all – it’s overkill. If I had to choose, I’d email it.
Good luck on your job search.
.
send by email, it’s more "personal"
Do it in person.
send it both ways look up the personel dept and call the man and ask if they got the resume and ask for an idea of a day for the interview push the call back or e-mail them in two or three days dont fade if you want the JOB
I would say both just in case one doesn’t work.
Send it by e-mail – it is easier for most applicant tracking systems to accept and process, and it is easier for the recruiter or hiring manager to forward around. Most companies try not to deal with paper resumes any more.
Doesn’t the job you’re interested it state which they’d prefer?
If this is something that you would like lots of prospective employers to see I’ attach it on there link.
Best of luck in your endeavors.
normally, i would email it. proper resume etiquette is do not fax unless specifically asked. however, if they are openly asking for faxes, go ahead.
as an employer i despise unsolicited faxes of any kind, whether resumes or sales pitches.
if they’re asking for faxes, they’re probably screening them with eyeballs. few businesses will actually scan a fax sent to them so it can be screened by a computer. files, however, are usually screened by computer… and i have seen first-hand what a botch some of the screening programs can make!!
My husband hires people off Careerbuilder and he always checks the e-mail one first. Alot of "career centers" fax in resumes of applicants who are WAY under qualified and the resumes are always like 3 pages long… he reviews them all but he finds the better applicants fax…Never both, he HATES seeing duplicates.
